What to expect from your Signature Newborn Photoshoot at CAM Photography

Welcoming your little one into the world is a precious time and at CAM Photography we are here to help you capture those earliest memories with a newborn photoshoot tailored for comfort, safety and beauty. Here’s what you can expect when you book your newborn session with us;

A Warm, Safe, and Relaxed Atmosphere

At CAM Photography we prioritise your baby's comfort and safety at every stage of the photoshoot. I am fully trained in newborn posing and safety so you can rest assured that your little one is in the best hands. The studio is a calm and cosy space making it easy for your baby (and you!) to feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the session.

What happens when you arrive at the studio?

When you arrive at the studio you will get baby ready for the photoshoot by having baby in a nappy only and then offering a top up feed or full feed if one is due. This is important as it helps baby settle after being undressed and gives them a full tummy to give them the best chance of setting well for the photoshoot. As the session is baby lead we can stop at any time if baby needs more milk. After a feed when baby falls asleep this is often good quality sleep that allows us to create beautifully posed images for your galley. While you are giving the feed and we are waiting for baby to sleep we will discuss colour schemes, props and packages that are available. This is also a nice opportunity to look over the wall are we offer.

How the sessions runs?

Once baby is asleep we start with the posed images. The workflow I use allows each pose to flow into the next seamlessly starting with the "Froggy" pose which you can see below and is really just a winding position with the arms up instead of down!

We then move onto swaddled images and prop images if you like them. We have so many colours of swaddles and props that you will be spoilt for choice. Then at the end of the session we do some parent images and sibling images too if needed. It is important to note that although there is a workflow we follow not every baby will be comfortable in every pose and we always follow babies lead so not every pose may be possible especially if baby has been born breech. You can see some gorgeous examples below of poses you can expect to see and props we have available.

What happens if baby doesn't sleep?

No sleep? No worries.... If baby isn't ready to sleep we have a number of tricks up our sleeve to get you a gorgeous gallery anyway! We simply adjust the workflow and take the images first that don't rely on baby sleeping and usually after this they will fall asleep anyway. We can still get you a gorgeous full gallery of images with plenty of variety and and awake baby.

What happens after the photoshoot?

After the photoshoot we will sit down together and view your gallery of images. This is when you will finalise your package choice and order any wall art you would like. We will help guide you through the process of choosing images and will help you choose the perfect way to display your favourite images on your wall to showcase every day! We even offer 0% payment plans to make extra easy.
